As president of America’s Plastic Makers®, I certainly believe it can.
In ongoing global negotiations to end plastic pollution, culminating in South Korea this November, we are actively advocating for a legally binding agreement that fosters a circular, sustainable economy.
Plastic Makers = Innovation
Achieving this future requires harnessing innovation and resources to keep plastic within the economy and out of the environment. It also demands collaboration among global plastic manufacturers to drive sustainable solutions.
This is what we do best. Every day, we innovate to create solutions—whether it’s developing stronger, lighter plastics that improve vehicle safety and fuel efficiency, engineering durable composites for more efficient wind turbine blades, designing transparent packaging that reduces food waste, or reimagining packaging for easier recycling. Our mission is to enhance efficiency and sustainability while pioneering new business models that support a circular economy.
In these global negotiations, our role is to provide real solutions—offering innovative ideas and responsible strategies that create the conditions necessary for capturing, reusing, and repurposing plastic. Advances such as improved product design make plastic easier to recycle, while chemical recycling (also known as advanced or molecular recycling) significantly expands the types and volume of plastics that can be repurposed.
